Web Design Folkestone
Folkestone fifteen years ago and Folkestone now are very different places. I've watched it change, and the businesses that set up here tend to have more personality than most.
Web design in Folkestone
When the Channel Tunnel opened in 1994, it killed Folkestone's ferry trade almost overnight. The town went into a long, difficult decline. The Harbour Arm fell into disuse, the old town emptied out, and it had that particular sadness of a place that used to matter. Then Roger De Haan, whose family built the Saga holiday company in the town, started investing seriously. The Creative Quarter was built from derelict buildings in the old town. The Harbour Arm was redeveloped into a proper destination with restaurants, bars, and a weekend market. It took years, but it worked.
The Leas Lift is one of those things that surprises you if you haven't come across it before: a water-powered funicular cliff railway built in 1885, still running on the same mechanism, carrying people between the clifftop promenade and the lower town. The Leas itself, the Victorian walkway with its views across to France on a clear day, has a faded grandeur that's become part of what draws people here. The old fishing community and the newer creative crowd haven't fully settled into each other yet, which is part of what makes it interesting to be around.
Most of the businesses that moved into Folkestone during the regeneration did so on purpose. They chose it. That means they have a point of view, and their websites should too. Whether you're on the Harbour Arm, in the Creative Quarter, or running a more traditional business in the district, I build websites that do justice to what you've built.
